   include:

      * improved AI achieved by enabling unused attack team scripts
      * new mission briefings for all campaigns
      * support for Gravis Ultrasound card
      * Turbo mode for faster, more challenging gameplay

                              1. Installation
 ͼ

Super Dune II Classic is designed for stand-alone installation. However,
you will require certain files from the original Dune II (any version)
for the modification to work (see below).

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is NOT recommended to install Super Dune II Classic
into your Dune II directory, as this might result in Dune II working
   incorrectly.

Step 1. Unpack and run the Super Dune II Classic installation programme.
By default, Super Dune II Classic will be installed into a sub-directory
called "SD2" that will be created inside the current directory where the
installation programme is located. You can change the installation
directory by selecting the "Destination Directory" option in the
installation menu and typing the new path to the directory where you
wish Super Dune II Classic to be installed.

Step 2. Copy the following files from your Dune II directory into the
directory where you have installed Super Dune II Classic:

	   ATRE.PAK
	   HARK.PAK
	   MERC.PAK
	   ORDOS.PAK

NOTE: These files are identical in all known versions of Dune II.

Step 3. Run the setup program (SETUP.EXE) to configure Super Dune II
Classic. The setup program allows you to choose multiple sound devices
for music, sound effects and digitized speech.

NOTE: For the best performance results, it is recommended to select
Sound Canvas for music and Sound Blaster (or Sound Blaster Pro) for
   speech and sound effects.

For information on Gravis Ultrasound support, see the "What's New"
   section below.

NOTE: On modern machines, it is generally recommended to run Super
Dune II Classic under DOSBox, a DOS emulator. For more information,
   visit the official DOSBox website:

      http://www.dosbox.com/

Step 4. Run SUPER.EXE and start a new game as in regular Dune II.

NOTE: If you have selected Gravis Ultrasound as the MIDI playback device,
   run SD2G.BAT instead.

Step 5. Click on a House herald to select:

	   House Atreides Fremen
	   House Ordos Mercenaries
	   House Harkonnen Sardaukar

NOTE: To remove Super Dune II Classic from your machine, simply delete
the directory where it was installed.

                               2. What's New
 ͼ

Super Dune II Classic Version 1.5g adds partial support for Gravis
Ultrasound cards, allowing for high-quality MIDI music playback. If your
machine is capable of Ultrasound emulation, select Ultrasound as the
music playback device. However, sound effects and speech playback
through Gravis Ultrasound are not supported, so you should use Sound
Blaster or Sound Blaster Pro for those instead.

DOSBox can emulate Gravis Ultrasound cards, but you will need additional
patch files for MIDI playback. Please refer to the DOSBox FAQ for further
   information:

      http://dosbox.com/wiki/Sound#Gravis_Ultrasound

If you would like to adjust music volume, open SD2G.BAT for editing. Find
   the following line:

      if not "%ultrasnd%"=="" %ultradir%\ultramid -16 -m120 -q

The -m key defines synthesized music volume, which ranges from 0 to 127.
Edit the value after the -m key to increase or decrease volume.

 ͻ
                             3. The Turbo Mode
 ͼ

The original Super Dune II 1994 release contained a hack that allowed
units and structures to be built and repaired instantly. Super Dune II
Classic Version 1.5g brings this feature back in the form of the Turbo
Mode. Turbo Mode is a separate executable file (TURBO.EXE), and it also
uses different filenames for saved games to avoid confusion.

In addition to the instant build and repair feature, which affects both
the player and the AI opponents, mission briefings and debriefings are
also skipped in Turbo Mode, although you can review the current mission
objectives at any time in the Mentat screen. As a further bonus, Turbo
Mode uses unit and building stats from the Sega Mega Drive port of
Dune II, where all weapons deal 25% more damage to units and 25% less
damage to structures. Additionally, some important structures like the
Heavy Factory and the Repair Facility have increased armour.

Turbo Mode supports Gravis Ultrasound MIDI music. If you have selected
Gravis Ultrasound as the music playback device, you should launch Turbo
   Mode with the TD2G.BAT file.

Super Dune II Classic was made possible thanks to the efforts of these
   people (in no particular order):

Power C & Shadow Knight, creators of the original Super Dune II:
        The Destruction.
Kevin Cernekee, who created WWPAK, a very handy Westwood PAK
        (un)packer.
Olaf van der Spek, author of the excellent XCC Mixer multi-purpose
        tool.
Siberian_GRemlin, a Westwood Studios games enthusiast, who added
support for Dune II compressed text and Mentat database formats
into his Siberian String Table Editor at my request.
Nyerguds, creator of the C&C v1.06 patch, who started his Dune II
Editor project to help me out with Super Dune II, and wrote a
proper batch file for launching SD2 with the UltraMid synthesizer.
TCH, author of a very handy Windows-based Dune II Scenario Editor.
Ultraq, who included Dune II SHP, CPS and WSA conversion tools into
his Red Horizon modding suite (primarily designed for Command &
Conquer: Red Alert) at my request.
ArrakisResearchCo, author of the Dune II Tile Viewer, which he
transformed into the Dune II Tile Editor at my request.
Segra, who helped fix the "concrete bug" and the "vanishing houses
bug", and really did A LOT of research of Dune II code, which he
released in the form of an IDA Pro database. With this database,
Dune II modding has literally become a breeze :)
Minniatian, an expert in both PC and Amiga versions of Dune II.
Stefan Hendriks, creator of Arrakis and Dune 2 The Maker remakes of
Dune II, and a Dune II enthusiast in general :)
AnyKey Entertainment team, creators of an unofficial Russian
        localization of Dune II.
the author of the original Dune II GUS patch that showed the
principle of how to enable Gravis Ultrasound support in Dune II.
the DOS installer was created using the DOS SFX module of RAR for
        DOS v2.50.

I would also like to additionally thank Stefan Hendriks, Nema Fakei,
Nyerguds, Minniatian, Siberian_GRemlin, Segra and TrueBrain for lots of
support and valuable advice on numerous occasions. Thanks guys!!!
